This menu is like an appendix for some of the many places of interest in state travel areas.
Kansas has nineteen historic trails used by the pioneers, cattlemen, and the army. Famous ones include the Chisholm Cattle Trail, Oregon Trail, Oregon Trail, Pony Express Trail & Lewis and Clark's Trail. There are nineteen State Historical Sites but we did not see many.
KANSAS CITY -- Did not see Grinter Place State Historic Site, John Brown Statue, the National Agriculture Center & Hall of Fame.
FORT SCOTT NHS -- Did not see FORT SCOTT NHS, Fort Scott. U. S. National Cemetery # 1, older than Arlington, and one of twelve established by President A. Lincoln.
TOPEKA -- Kansas State Capitol, Kansas Museum of History, Kansas Governor's Residence. Did not see Historic Ward-Meade Park; Constitution Hall-Territorial Capitol-Lane Museum; Combat Air Museum, Cedar Crest; BROWN VS. BOARD OF EDUCATION NHS, Topeka; and the Natural History Museum in Topeka.
COUNCIL GROVE -- Historical Buildings & Hays House Restaurant (alleged oldest west of Mississippi), Kaw Indian Mission.
FORT RILEY -- Fort Riley, U. S Calvary Museum & Historic Custer House, First Territorial Capital & Pony Express Station.
TALLGRASS N PRES -- TALL GRASS PRAIRIE NATIONAL PRESERVE & Buildings, Strong City.
FORT LARNED NHS -- FORT LARNED NATIONAL HISTORICAL SITE , Learned, Santa Fe Trail Center Museum.
DODGE CITY -- Boot Hill Museum, The Long Branch, Gunfighters Wax Museum, Home of Stone-1881 Pioneer House, Tour Historic Downtown.
INDEPENDENCE -- Did not see Little House on the Prairie, replica of Ingall's 1870 cabin.
CIMARRON -- Crossing on the Santa Fe Trail.
GARDEN CITY -- Finnup Historic Home, Finney Game Refuge.
WICHITA -- Did not see Old Cowtown Museum, Prairie Rose Chuckwagon Supper, Botanica, the Wichita Gardens, & Kansas Firefighters Museum.
NICODEMUS NHS -- Did not see NICODEMUS NHS, Nicodemus.
